Know your Oracle EBS licence position

Lime² EBS License maps your EBS users and responsibilities to the products you are licensed for, then shows the result as an effective licence position (ELP) dashboard that runs on your own machine. See who is using what, where you are over-used, and what is going unused, before Oracle asks.

What it checks

Built for Oracle E-Business Suite, where what you are licensed for and what your users can actually reach can drift a long way apart.

Licensed against used

Every product shows what you hold, what is in use, the variance and the utilisation, with a red, amber or green status.

Unlicensed products

Products with measured usage but no licence grant are grouped and flagged, so potential compliance risk is easy to find.

True unique users

A deduplicated count of distinct active users across all responsibilities, so people with several responsibilities are not double-counted.

Drill-down to people

Click any product to see the active users behind it: username, responsibility, last logon and session count.

Category view

Licensed against used by product category, such as Financials, Human Resources, Supply Chain and Procurement.

Your own licence grants

Enter what you own by hand or import it from CSV, with the licence metric and unit price held against each product.

Roles and responsibility mapping

In EBS, a user's access comes from the responsibilities assigned to them, and each responsibility belongs to a product. Lime² EBS License traces that chain for you, so the licence position reflects real access rather than a guess.

1

Collect

User accounts, responsibility assignments and usage data are collected from your own EBS database.

2

Map

Each active user is mapped to the products their active responsibilities belong to. Ended responsibilities and inactive accounts are left out.

3

Compare

The mapped usage is compared with your licence grants, product by product.

4

Act

See where to remove access, where entitlement is going unused, and where you need the facts before talking to Oracle.

Products licensed on usage, not users

Not every EBS product is licensed per Application User. Some are licensed on a measure of usage or population, such as employees, order lines, expense reports or purchase lines. A user count tells you nothing about those, so Lime² EBS License collects the figures behind them from your own EBS database, alongside the user and responsibility data.

Human ResourcesMeasured by employees. Employee and person counts are taken from the HR tables.
Order ManagementMeasured by order lines. Order line data is collected for roughly the last two years.
Incentive CompensationMeasured by compensated individuals with a current plan assignment.
Internet ExpensesMeasured by expense reports processed, counted for each month of the last 24 months.
iProcurementMeasured by purchase lines processed, counted for each month of the last 24 months.
Purchasing IntelligenceMeasured by purchase lines processed over the last 12 months.
Time and LaborMeasured by the number of persons recorded in the system.
Learning ManagementMeasured by the number of trainees recorded in the system.

Each licence grant records the metric it is held on, so entitlement and measurement can be read side by side. Which metric applies to which product depends on your contract and Oracle's price list at the time you bought, so always check it against your own order documents.

Hosted on your own site

Most licensing tools ask you to send your estate data to someone else's cloud. Lime² EBS License is a desktop application that you run yourself, next to your EBS.

Your machine, your network

Installed on your own Windows 10 or 11 machine. It is not in our cloud and not on anyone else's premises.

Your data stays with you

Collected data, licence grants and results are held in a local database on your own machine. Nothing is sent to us unless you choose to share an export.

Read access only

Collection needs read access to the EBS FND views. Use the APPS account, or a read-only account with the grants listed in the manual.

Direct or over SSH

Connect straight to the database listener, or collect through an SSH connection. Temporary files on the server are removed afterwards, and saved passwords are encrypted with Windows DPAPI.

Controlled access

Admin and Viewer roles. Viewers can see the dashboard and export the position, but cannot run collections or change settings.

No Oracle client needed

The application uses SQL*Plus on the EBS server, so no Oracle client has to be installed on your workstation.

How it works

From your EBS data to a position you can act on. A typical collection takes between two and ten minutes, depending on database size.

1

Install and connect

Install the application, enter your database or SSH details, and test the connection before collecting.

2

Collect

One click runs the collection and cleans the output, ready for analysis. You can re-clean earlier raw files without reconnecting.

3

Add your grants

Enter or import what you are licensed for, so usage has something to be compared with.

4

Review the ELP

Check the red, amber and green status, the unique user count and the category chart, then drill into any product. Export the position to CSV, or package the collected data as ZIP files for review.
